Your payroll system talks to tax directly.
Tax Pilot connects out of the box to the payroll platforms and money movement providers you already run. If yours isn’t listed, build against our API.

Out-of-the-box integrations.
Grouped by what each one connects, so you can find your own stack in one pass. If yours isn’t here, an integration partner can build the connection with you.
Your platform belongs on this page.
If you run a payroll or HR platform, or move money for one, an integration gives your customers payroll tax filing and payment without a file to export.
- 01Tell us about your platform. What you run, who your customers are, and what you’d connect.
- 02Build against our API.The same documented API every integration uses, with sandbox credentials and a person to help scope it.
- 03Go live and get listed.Once the connection is live, your platform joins the integrations on this page.
Someone from the team will reply to scope the integration with you.

Tax Pilot External API 1.0.0
Download OpenAPI specification: Download
API Support: support@thetaxpilot.com
External REST API for Tax Pilot. Manage companies, employees, payroll tax ingestions, wage reports and tax setup, and read back tax liabilities, quarterly statements and documents.
Versioning
Every endpoint is served under /api/v1, e.g. https://api.thetaxpilot.com/api/v1/companies. Changes within v1 are additive: new endpoints, new optional request fields and new response fields. Treat unknown response fields as forward-compatible and ignore them.
Environments

Do we have to change our payroll system?
No. Your payroll system keeps calculating and stays the system of record. The integration replaces the tax engine, not payroll, so your team keeps working where it works today.
Does Tax Pilot pull from our API, or do we push to yours?
Either. Where a payroll platform has an API, Pay and File can pull finalized payrolls from it on a schedule, usually just after payroll locks. Your own system can also push payroll to the Tax Pilot API.
What data does the integration send?
Employee-level wages and taxes for each finalized payroll, with your tax codes. A code that doesn’t map is held for review, not dropped. Voids and corrections come across as their own records, so they net against the originals.
Is the connection one way or two way?
Payroll data comes in, and results can be read back out. The API returns tax liabilities, quarterly statements and documents, so your system can show them next to the company. Tax Pilot doesn’t change anything in your payroll system on its own.
What if our payroll platform isn’t listed?
You can build the connection yourself against our documented API. Tell us about your platform and we will send the documentation and sandbox credentials, with a person to help scope it. If you’d rather not build it yourself, an integration partner such as Benefit Cloud can build the connection with you.
Can we test before going live?
Yes. The team sets you up with test credentials so you can build and validate the integration before any live payroll data flows.
Can we still send files?
Yes. Files are accepted while the integration is stood up, or as a backup afterward. Summary files carry less detail than the API feed, so the employee-level variance checks need the API connection.
How long does an integration take to stand up?
Weeks, not months. The connection itself is quick. Most of the time goes into verifying that what comes across matches your current system before anything goes live.
See what comes across before you commit to anything.
We connect through the API, pull in your payroll data, and tie a remittance schedule to the penny against what your current system produced. No commitment.
